2014 Bordeaux – Les Découvertes: Under the Radar Gems and Sleepers
Bordeaux’s 2014 vintage yielded a number of fabulous wines.
Although Bordeaux gets a lot of criticism – at times warranted – for its high
prices, the reality is that once past the most desirable bottles, prices become
much more sane. These are some of my favorite, affordable 2014s. Some are
second wines, while others emerge from properties that have recently seen a change
in owner or winemaker, or come from less well-known appellations. A handful of
wines are on the list simply because they have overachieved, but all of these
wines share two attributes; they are flat-out delicious and should be
reasonably priced when they are released.
